The Summit Scholarship is a fully funded place on an all-women expedition. It is built on a plain fact: for most women and girls, the thing standing between them and a big mountain is not ability or desire — it is cost.
Each award covers the full freight of a big-mountain expedition — professional guiding from a women-led service, travel to the range, and the technical gear a glaciated or alpine objective demands. Recipients climb peaks from Komo Kulshan in the Cascades to the Cordillera Blanca in Peru to the Matterhorn in Switzerland.
A scholarship is never only about reaching the top. Recipients come home with a first glaciated summit, a rope team that has become a community, and — for many — the first proof that the high mountains belong to them too. Our Adventure Lens Grant sends emerging women filmmakers onto the rope team, so the story is told from the inside.
